Good, Old-Fashioned, Old-School Headphone Radio
I had been looking and looking for a headphone radio because I loved my Sony sport headphone radio from 2000, but they aren't made anymore. I was so sad and tired of the crappy earbuds and listening only to music I already knew about, and steaming live radio on my smartphone eats up way too much data, especially on long runs. When I found this radio on Radio Shack's website, they were not available online. So when I found them here, I ordered several pairs, so if one pair broke, I'd have replacements. I'm still on my first pair, and I love them. I do have to use a headband to hold them onto my ears, but that's because my head is too narrow. They are very light and easy to manipulate, if you don't mind old-school radio dialing to find your favorite station. I enjoy being able to simply reach up to my ear to change the stations when they get too boring, and changing the volume is easy, too. It's got an AM/FM switch,a volume dial, station dial, power switch, and that's it. It takes two AAA batteries, and the sound and reception aren't fantastic, but I am so happy with these!

Very Reliable Headphones
Happy with these so far. They're lightweight, which is a big plus. You can use them while working, doing yard work, or on the go. The reception for them is pretty good. We've been using them on our homestead while doing a variety of yard work, helps to pass the time. In our area, we can't pick up most radio signals, but we can definitely get the stronger ones. And these headphones definitely pick up the signal better than others. So we would recommend them.

Good Radio for Those of Us Who Like Old School
I do a fair amount of listening to the radio as I go about doing other things. Often, I could listen to the same thing on the internet, but this offends my "keep it simple" sensibilities. I find it really silly to tie up a lot of technology to provide me with what is already wafting through the air, easily received by simple equipment. Now to the radio itself. Headphone radios can be found easily enough, but most of those presently available are combination hearing protector and radio. I have one of these also for when I am doing noisy tasks, but the majority of the time I prefer something lighter that does not block outside sounds. This radio clings to the head well due to the strap that goes around the back of the head and the pressure of the phones on the ears. The pressure does sometimes become uncomfortable after an hour. Audio performance on FM is good, though certainly not to high fidelity standards, as I expected. FM signal sensitivity is OK, but not as good as hearing protector radio which as an external whip antenna. The radio's weak point is its AM band performance. It is much worse than an old Radio Shack headphone radio that I have (now broken). There are three main problems: 1. The audio level on the AM band is much lower than on the FM band. I can compensate for this by cranking up the volume, but such large adjustments should not be necessary. 2. The AM band signal sensitivity is much worse than my old Radio Shack headphone radio. 3. The audio quality is horrid. All three problems are due to design decisions made in China which probably saved 25 cents in material costs. This is probably due to the Chinese culture where "best price" is esteemed more than "best value". Unfortunately, Radio Shack simply took the product "as is" rather than mandating significantly better AM band performance at a slight increase in cost.

The on/off switch snapped off after a few months of use
I was happy with this purchase at first, although the set seemed a bit flimsy to me. The on/off and bass switches were extremely small and difficult to use. However, the sound quality was fine. I thought that the headset was too tight around on my head/ears. Then, the on/off switch snapped off. Since the switch was in the on position, I now use the headset by loading and unloading the batteries in it. I'm not sure how long this method is going to work though. For the price I paid for this headset, $45, I can not recommend it.

Great reception
Love this radio! It gets great reception with no antenna so it is perfect to wear while shoveling snow with my hood up. My old radio was a Sony which had a short antenna and got caught in my hood. This one is light-weight, comfortable and stays in place. I live in a metropolitan area so I don't know how the reception is in the country, but I suspect it would pick up local stations.

Just OK for now
I miss my Sony Walkman headset that died after many, many years of faithful service! I saw that this was highly rated and the reviews a price sounded good. It's No Walkman. Tuning can be iffy and the range is pretty limited. Just strolling down my street I often have to fiddle to get the signal sweet spot for my two fave stations. The other adjusting parts seem fine. Finding the volume control and tuner dial while I'm wearing it is actually better than the Walkman. The on/off button is in a good spot too.Audio is functional. I don't listen to music stations and am not a audio connoisseur so can't really speak to sound quality, per se. Just that the tuner can lose signal as I move. This is biggest drawback. You get what you pay for, obviously. The fit of the band is pretty good! I as surprised how tight the ear band is. I have a very small head and this fits quite snug. It's not uncomfortable for me but can't speak for larger headed wearers. The ear pads are comfy and the adjustability of both bands is top rate for my small head anyway. I really like the stability band. It does stay on well! Which is something even the Walkman didn't always do when I was gardening or doing other active work.I may keep looking for a better set, but meanwhile this is OK.

I am enjoying my stereo headset radio.
I am very pleased with my stereo headset radio. I use it every morning when I go walking. It is very lightweight and it is exactly what I wanted in a headset. When I have it on, I can still hear if someone speaks to me. And most important, I can hear a car approaching or passing by. That makes it safe. I am glad I ordered it.

Great Radio
I had one for 5 years and it fell and broke so I ordered another. The first one I got at Radio Shack uses 1 AAA and this one uses 2 AAA. My only gripe is I found the same thing on Ebay for half the price so I have a spare.

A good product for the price.
I use this radio to work out at the gym. No problem with am or fm channels, only negative is after a short time the pressure of the earphones tend to hurt my ears.

Last of a die-ing breed
The good is that you can still get these AM/FMheadphone radios - they used to be plentiful from several manufacturers, but are now rare as hens' teeth. The bad: I had a previous model of these that ran on a single AAA battery and had pretty good battery life. This unit uses 2 x AAA batteries and seems to have much shorter battery life. Still, batteries are cheap and the convenience is great.

a brilliant buy & with no wires to tangle extremely
bought as a gift for my father, he wears them constantly, & have stood up to all the abuse he has given them, the full size headphone type only lasted a few months before bits started snapping, a brilliant buy & with no wires to tangle extremely practical
