bareMinerals Get Started 7 Piece Complexion Kit, Fairly Light

This is a really nice way to try out a lot of product for not very much money. The primer feels EXTREMELY soft on the skin, although I don't necessarily trust it to completely mattify my shine/erase my pores, so I wear a mattifying primer underneath it on my t zone. I was really impressed with how long-lasting the foundation is. I have worn it all day, in cold and wind, and it has stayed put. I also love the somewhat natural, luminous appearance it gives to my skin (I've been having a lot of problems with cake-y foundations and powders lately, so I decided to try out a mineral foundation again). I like the warming powder, although be careful to use an EXTREMELY tiny amount on a brush (I think that the brush in the kit is too big for this product and a more precise brush should be used for best results), or otherwise your face will be orange. Also be careful to apply to the high points of face, or it gives an odd effect. I am not sure how effective the mineral veil is. I think it gives a little natural luminosity to the skin, and helps seal the product in, but I do not notice a big difference to my look when applying this product. The brush is terrible. It feels a little scratchy, and the hairs shed like crazy. I am using it for the meantime, because it does apply evenly, but I will be switching to my Ecotools kabuki brush after this brush dies (probably will happen after I wash it once or twice). I also recommend that one wears a concealer for any prominent redness or dark circles, because this won't be full enough coverage to mask everything. It is a lot more full coverage than I had originally expected, however! Overall, this has made my makeup routine easy and fun, and I'm so happy to not glop so much product onto my face. I feel more confident, knowing that my foundation will stay fresh/not get weird throughout the day, as well! I also have extremely pale skin, and I find that this product blends more easily into my skin tone than liquid products and matte pressed powder foundations. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to freshen up their makeup routine, has very fair skin, and wants to test out a lot of different products. Be aware, these aren't full sized, but I think several of these will last me for quite a long while.

This is a great way to try out the foundation before investing in the full-priced stuff (which I will absolutely be doing after this kit runs out). The primer goes on like silk, the bronzer ("warmth") is the most natural looking and subtle that I've tried, and the foundation is great. I have super sensitive blemish-prone skin, and I haven't had any problems. Someone said the kit was counterfeit—it's not. It's the exact one you'd get at Ulta all sealed up, but with a nice discount. Someone else was disappointed that these were trial sizes. Guess they didn't read the description. Yes, these are smaller. But a little goes a long way! Overall, really happy with my purchase.

Great into to this product. As other reviewers have stated, the mineral veil is nowhere near enough, especially since the instructions suggest putting it on both under and over the other powders. I wish this came with more brushes, too. Definitely follow instructions and watch videos. Buffing is your friend!! This doesn't cover my freckles or anything dramatic like that, but it does even our my skin tone and make me feel really pretty. The "warmth" was a learning curve. A little goes a long way with that. Be careful because once the warmth goes on, it's hard to remove without starting over!

I ordered this kit because I was looking for light makeup coverage to even out my skin tone and cover dark circles. I have very fair and freckled skin that tends to be on the dry side. I do not generally have much acne however I DO have sensitive skin. I have several metal allergies and have had some reactions to certain sunscreens. I am usually okay with organic sunscreens however. Maybe it was the marketing of the makeup that claims it was "good for all skin types" or maybe it was my ignorance but I assumed that bare minerals was an organic or at least natural product. I had remebered seeing info commercials about how it made your skin "better" over time and was breathable and so "safe you can sleep in it." With great excitement and without hesitation I ripped open my Amazon package. The kit was boxed nicely and comes in a very cute clutch. I read thorough the instruction plamphlet and watched a few official BE tutorials online. I wanted to be sure I applied it correctly. I cleaned my face and then began applying the make. At first I put the primar on and it felt fine. I let it sit and then started to add the original foundation. I noticed that the brush was a little scratchy, espically after "buffing" the makeup into the skin as you are instructed to do. However I continued, and let me tell you my skin looked FLAWLESS!!! I was SO excited! I looked as if I had been airbrushed. The makeup did not look caked on me at all. It lighted, brightened, and evened out my completion. I also loved how it gave me just enough coverage without covering my freckles. Next I used the warmth to contour and the mineral veil to set. I was SO impressed with the final product. I did notice a little irritation but I assumed it was from the brush. I continued the rest of my makeup routine and went on my way. Fifteen minutes later my "slight irritation" turned into a burning itching nightmare. I felt like my face was on fire. I immediately began washing the makeup off my face. My checks were bright red and splotchy. It's been 7 hours and my face still BURNS. It was only AFTER the reaction that I bothered to truly research the ingredients. As started before I assumed that minerals meant this was a natural product. However I have discovered that one of the top listed ingredients is bismuth oxychloride, a man made mineral that is made from ground up LEAD and COPPER. So essentially it's like grinding up those cheap earrings that make my ear lobes swell like watermelons and rubbing the powder all over my face. No thank you. I really cannot BLAME bare essentials. Their ingredients are listed online and I myself could have done the research before wasting the $30. I do however believe the marketing is misleading. I am giving a 2 star rating because the makeup made my skin look glorious and I'm sure for someone with no sensitivity or allergy it would be great. I'm giving no more than 2 stars because as I type this my face STILL burns. The bottom line, if you have sensitive skin, DO NOT try this. I recommend sticking to something hypoallergenic. If you don't have sensitive skin and you're looking for beautiful light to medium coverage, this might be the kit for you.

This is the first time buying Bare Minerals. I wanted to try it first before I committed to $140 worth of makeup that you would pay at the store or online. This stuff is great! I don't usually wear foundation, but this is very light and not noticeable at all...and I have fair complexion with redness and freckles. It evens out my face and adds a touch of color. I went back and bought some other collections that are offered on Amazon and so far I have liked everything. Great buy!

Mixed feelings about this product. Despite the lovely packaging in which it comes, the colour for "Fairly Light" is more orange than normal and therefore doesn't fully match my skin tone. I personally think I'm entitled to write such a review as I have been using Fairly Light for over 10 years and this is the first time the colour hasn't been right. Might try and get an exchange to be honest..
