Nyko's Newest Base Is A Great Upgrade Over Last Generation's
I've been using the older, white version of this charging base for almost 4 years now. It's wonderful and I love it. I've never had to replace a battery pack, never had to replace the dock. Nothing broke, never deviated from the "25 hours of gaming per charge", never had any issues ever. And now I've upgraded to this generation and it's no different. I've had it for a little while now and here's my pros and cons: Pros: 1. The only thing I didn't like about the old version were the big, giant, super bright lights (red for charging, green for charged). This is something Nyko has improved with a very nice little screen to replace the giant lights. It shows little pictures of the controllers (marking whether they're in slot 1 or 2) along with a much more mellow and eye friendly red/green light. The screen blends right into the color of the case, so it looks like it just comes out of the front (nice illusion, very slick). 2. Its design is sleek. The black matches my black controllers, the metal pieces are shiny. It looks like a high class, high quality charging dock. Mostly because it is one. 3. Both battery packs that came with it work and charge properly. I know some bases have an issue with sending a dead battery (or two dead batteries), never had this problem with Nyko charging bases and this one is no exception. 4. There's actually a door on the front that opens (much like the little doors on the front of Xbox 360s) and has a USB slot. Not sure what that is supposed to be for, but I actually use it to charge my Android phone :P but I imagine you can charge your controllers this way too if you have a plug n charge battery pack (so you don't have to get rid of em). 5. The batteries haven't changed. It's the same batteries from the old white and old black ones, so you don't have to throw them away or pack them away for storage if you're upgrading like I am. You can still use them. I now have 4 batteries with which to play video games, all of which can be charged in this dock (as my white one came with 2 when I bought it). Conclusion on Pros: It's well designed (much better looking than last generation), it works as all Nyko charging bases seem to, and as usual I have no complaints about it. I love the new classy LED/LCD/whatever screen on the front showing the nice charging graphics as opposed to the harsh lighting. Everything works as it says it does and Nyko added at least one new feature to keep it competitive. Cons: I honestly can't think of any cons, it's exactly what I wanted and exactly what I paid for. To anything who's angry that they use a proprietary battery: get over it. It clearly states on every website it's sold on and on the box of the product itself: "2 custom NiMH rechargeable batteries supply up to 25 hours of play time" That should be a red flag that it won't charge any other batteries besides these custom NiMH rechargeable batteries that come with the charger. If you take off a star (or multiple stars) because of something they essentially tell you before you buy the product, it's a testament to your lack of ability to understand the English language and nothing that Nyko did. If you're looking for a charging base for your Xbox 360 controllers, look no further. It doesn't get any better than this.

This is the Newest Version with a USB port. A great product now greater.
Nyko keeps showing us that even though they make great products, there's always room for improvement. I have two of these. The first version, which I bought long ago, has the two big lights you see on some of the pictures. Those lights turn red while charging and green once fully charged; and eventually go off if you leave the controllers in it, which is basically what this unit does, it provides a charging and organizing solution for controllers. Now, the unit presently being sold at amazon is the newest version of the product I just described above, with some changes and a great addition. The unit now has a USB port on the front. You can use it to charge the 360 wireless headset and/or any USB base electronic (PS3 controller, cellphone, etc). The charger remains plugged to your AC outlet, but it does not drain energy, unless you are charging controllers or USB devices. The charging indicator has been change, it no longer has the two LED lights, it now has two controller graphics on it, each marked as 1 & 2, to indicate wich controller is being charged, one front, two rear. They each have a small light that again, turns from red to green to off. You get the following: the charger, two rechargeable batteries and instructions. Basic, yet extremely useful. This charger is great for any level gamer, the fact that you can drop & forget, is a great feature. No power buttons to worry about. Nothing. Get this charger, you will get your money's worth in no time. The addition of the USB port was a pleasant surprise. I didn't know it had it until I got my charger. Nyko makes such good products that I didn't even bother reading the description before I bought it. One more thing, Nyko has a great customer support team, I have dealt with them numerous times, not because of faulty products, but for my own needs (extra batteries, PS3 connectors, etc) and they were always helpful and resolved my issues quickly and with little effort on my part, so in the rare case that you should need technical assitance, I'm sure they will help you in a heartbeat. I am a Nyko fan/supporter and will remain so as long as they stay in business. I have two 360 chargers, the PS3 move and controller charger and they Wii charging stations, all of them have done a great job without any problems. There will always be negative reviews, but I can honestly tell you, I haven't had any problems so far. Some people have to understand, sometimes faulty products go through quality inspections, and that applies to anything you buy nowadays, but in this case, if you receive a faulty Nyko product, do your part, call Nyko or Amazon. Either one will help you solve the issue. Good Luck.

Quality and convenient charger
I purchased this charger for my Xbox 360 controllers to replace the "play and charge" kit. I do not get to play Xbox 360 as much as I used to and when I would go to play my controllers were dead. Charging them with the "play and charge" kit is a hassle so I wanted something that kept my controllers ready at all times. The Nyko Charge Base 360 S plus into a wall outlet and acts as a cradle dock for 2 Xbox 360 controllers. The base charges the controllers until they have a full charge, and then it acts as simply a dock. Built into the front of the base is a USB port which can be used for charging other electronics. The build quality of the product is good. It is stylish (as much as can be) for a charging base. The fact that it included two rechargeable batteries was an added bonus. So far I've found the battery quality to be no less (possibly even better) than the standard Xbox 360 rechargeable batteries. This is a good quality product that works as advertised.

Unbeatable price and performance - Stylish design and works as intended
The Nkyo Charge base for the xbox 360 is an amazing blend of price and performance. This Nkyo charging base suits my needs perfectly and I've nothing but good things to say thus far. Features at a glance: * Comes with a pair of rechargeable batteries that you can attach to two xbox 360 controller (Say goodbye to batteries) * Charging base has an LED indicator for both the 1st and 2nd controller. * Can hold a charge of up to 25 hours of game play - That's about right. * Plugs into an outlet - Much much faster than charging from the usb of the xbox console Design - Surprisingly, the design is stylish. I can proudly place this idly on my desk. The glossy black finish and silver Nkyo logo simply looks cool. The angle of how the xbox controller is placed is nice, too. It's like a showcase display, if you will. When you remove a controller, the charging base stays in place and does not wobble. Everything about this charging base feels well-made. Performance - As I mentioned before, the rechargeable batteries can hold a charge of about 25 hours of gameplay. From about 3-4 full charges, I would say that's about right. I can't say how long it takes to charge, since I usually just charge it overnight while I am sleeping. The charge time is really nothing to fret or worry about. For the price, there is really nothing better. There is no compromise in build, design, nor performance. You get two rechargeable batteries, a solid base, and great price. Could I ask for more? Perhaps a solar charging base. Kidding. Get this charging base already. It is as good as it gets.

Less waste, and hours of game time!
I LOVE these chargers! I initially bought them for someone else for a Christmas gift (my little brothers) but when I saw how nice they really were and how long the charge lasted, I went ahead and bough a set for myself. The base is very simple and light. It is a very nice, sleek and shiny black, which goes nicely with my TV and entertainment center. It has charging indicator lights to let you know it is charging, and when it is charged. The charging lights change color based on how charged (or drained) the battery is. If you always make sure to put your controller on the charging base, you will never have a problem. I am not that good, however, and I've put in at least 15 hours of game time on my remote and the battery is still going strong. There is a simple plug that goes into the back of the charging base with a long cable to the power outlet. The battery packs are easy to change out with the originals. The battery packs are the same size, the only difference is on the back. There is an exposed charging strip, which, when placed on the charging base, fits perfectly and begins charging the remote. I love the way the base looks, it is a simple setup that gets the job done and provides a storage location for my controllers. I love that I don't have to buy 36 packs of AA batteries and keep them close buy to switch out every few weeks when they die. Saves me money and the hassle of recycling batteries all the time. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who has an xbox 360. If you spend any time at all on your Xbox, this will easily pay for itself in a year.

Bought two of these --Neither worked out of the box, but the fix was simple.
I bought two of these, and neither of them worked out of the box. I found that the batteries would charge just fine when they were inserted directly into the base without a controller. But when you put the batteries in the controller, and dock the controller on the base, it didn't charge at all. I was able to fix the issue, which is why I've decided to keep it, and give it three stars --it would've gotten 5 stars otherwise. It turns out there are pins on the base which mate with metal pads on the battery. When the battery is installed in a controller, the battery sits a little bit higher up in the base, so the contact points are too low. I was able to bend the pins towards the rear of the base with pair of pliers. I moved them about 30% towards the rear after unplugging the unit from AC. This completely resolve the issue for me. Now it works great. So much more convenient than changing batteries all the time. Just grab-n-go. The price is good too. However, I bought two of these, and neither of them worked out of the box. For this reason, I'm giving this three stars instead of 5. Maybe it was a bad batch, since it's working for others... But quality control is clearly an issue.

High Quality and Easy to Use
This was purchased to replace a Xbox 360 Quick Charge Kit that we purchased with our Xbox 360 Pro Value Bundle [Old Version ] in 2008. Compared to the older model, this is definitely an upgrade. The manufacturer sent two NiMH rechargeable batteries that were partially charged. I like that they were partially charged because they arrived the same day our new Xbox 360 Limited Edition Chrome Series Wireless Controller - Black controllers and I wanted to test those out! Putting the battery onto the controller is really easy, simply slip it onto the back of the controller where you would normally install the battery pack with AA batteries. After testing the controllers, we charged them. The charging dock can be plugged into an outlet or into a USB port, we have it plugged into the wall. Charging the controllers with this unit is super simple too. All you do is place the controller into the recharging dock and an LED light comes on to indicate the battery level. Red is low, yellow is partially charged, and green indicated that the controller is ready to play! I really like that we don’t have to remove the batteries like we did in our old charger and that we can charge them both at the same time. The charger arrived on a Thursday night, so we allowed the controllers to fully charge overnight. The manufacturer states that the batteries will be able to provide up to twenty-five hours of play time on a full charge. We decided to test that over the weekend. My husband and I played for at least a week without having to charge and that included many hours over a weekend and a couple hours per night during the week. Overall, we are very happy with the purchase of this charging unit for our Xbox 360 and would recommend it to anyone who was looking for a high quality, easy to use, removable battery charger for their wireless controllers.

Great money saver, quality product!
I bought this charging base to save on batteries. My kids were constantly leaving the controllers on and running through batteries. The base is an attractive unit and keeps your controllers organized. My kids now have a place to store them and I don’t find them laying around the room. It has rubber pads on the bottom so the base stays in place. The base is easy to set up and charges the batteries quickly, about two hours. Which is another great point, the rechargeable batteries are included. I was worried about the charging base acting as a storage base for the controllers, I was afraid it would ruin the life of the batteries. The base has the technology to shut off after the controllers are charged. There are control units logos on the front of the base that lights up red to show you they are charging and then turns green and shuts off once they are charged. There is also a USB charging plug on the front of the base. While this isn’t something we have used, I could see how it would be useful to charge headsets and such. I have been very happy with the quality, I purchased this until in September of 2014 and it is still going strong. We haven’t seen any decline in the life of the batteries. I was so pleased I even purchased a second base.
